Ottimizzare il registro di Windows

Esiste un programma per ottimizzare e copiare il  registro di Windows: Si chiama ERUNT.

ERUNT è un'utility gratuita che permette di creare una copia di tutti i file che compongono il registro memorizzandola su una cartella o su un qualunque altro supporto. L'utilizzo di ERUNT è di una semplicità disarmante: è sufficiente specificare la cartella di destinazione per i file di backup ed il gioco è fatto. Successivamente, per ripristinare la copia del registro precedentemente creata, basta fare doppio clic sul file ERDNT.EXE. Per aiutarci nell'impresa è oggi disponibile un'utility freeware e grafica: ERUNTgui.

 

Con questa interfaccia anche un bambino non ha problemi. Il terzo tasto esegue il defrag del registro.

Vi riporto parte del file readme.txt presente nell'installazione della app portable (ossia la potete eseguire da una chiavetta USB). 

Come potete leggere l'unica accortenza è di eseguire il programma come amministratore e disabilitando la funzione UAC in Vista.

In questa versione esiste un baco che potrebbe non creare correttamente il link "Run Program" all'interno della cartella ERUNTgui. Ecco un'immagine che chiarisce come correggerne il contenuto facendo tasto destro, proprietà ipotizzando di aver scelto C:\ come destinazione:

Question: Do ERUNT and NTREGOPT run on Windows 7? Answer: ERUNT and NTREGOPT in their current versions 1.1j are still compatible with Windows 7, but as in Vista, they will only work correctly if you turn off User Account Control in Windows' Control Panel (move the slider to the lowest position).
Also, a problem has been discovered which on many systems causes ERDNT and NTREGOPT to display a "RegSaveKey: 3" error when optimizing / restoring the BCD00000000 hive. The cause is that after a clean install of Windows 7, the BCD part of the registry which contains Windows' boot configuration data resides on a hidden system partition with no drive letter assigned in Explorer. You can simply ignore this error and continue, or as a workaround, open Disk Managemant in Control Panel and right-click on the partition displayed as "System Reserved" to assign a drive letter.
Future versions of ERUNT and NTREGOPT will of course have these issues fixed. Keep an eye on my homepage for updates.
